Celebrate Independence Day with the following celebrations across the Triangle:

Durham Independence Day Celebration
July 4th, Bulls Athletic Park

Celebrate patriotism and civic pride with Durham Parks and Recreation and the Durham Bulls. The dynamic fireworks show will begin immediately following the game. Gates will open for general admission at the end of the 7th inning of the ballgame. FREE admission. If it rains, the call to cancel the fireworks will be made on July 4 by 7pm. http://durhamnc.gov/1008/Independence-Day-Celebration

“The Works” Downtown Raleigh
July 4th, Fayetteville Street

Independence Day Celebration during the day with live music, beer/wine tent, kids rides and games, aerial performances, Cirque de Vol street performers, eating contests, food and art vendors, and much more! Fireworks will light up the sky over The Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts starting around 9:30pm. http://www.raleighconvention.com/works/

Chapel Hill Fireworks Celebration
July 4th, UNC’s Kenan Memorial Stadium

Enjoy the 4th of July holiday with a fireworks display, watermelon eating contest, face painting and music by The Soul Psychedelique Orchestra. All events take place in Kenan Memorial Stadium. The gates open for fun at 7pm, and fireworks start at 9:30pm.

SOT and NIEHS Past, Present, and Future: 50 Years of Collaboration

This scientific symposium is sponsored by the Society of Toxicology (SOT) to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of NIEHS. The symposium will highlight collaboration between SOT and NIEHS over the years. Three speakers will provide diverse perspectives on the past, present, and future of SOT and NIEHS cooperation. Following the presentations, the speakers will join Linda Birnbaum, Ph.D. Director of NIEHS and the National Toxicology Program, and John B. Morris, Ph.D. President of SOT, in a roundtable discussion of critical topics in the field. The symposium will conclude with a reception to celebrate accomplishments and create new opportunities.
