RTP 180: Social Entrepreneurship
Nov. 19, The Frontier
As we enter into the season of giving, let’s talk about local companies that strive to give back. No, these aren’t nonprofits – but rather for profit companies with a charitable mission. You’ve probably familiar with the mission of Tom’s or Warby Parker, but did you know the Triangle is home to quite a few companies with similar, well-meaning missions? At November’s RTP 180, we’ll celebrate these social entrepreneurs living right here in our area that believe it’s possible to make a living while also making a difference.

Nov. 12, National Humanities Center
The soldier monuments that began to proliferate during the 1860s differed sharply from antebellum American commemorations. The emergence of this cultural form partly reflected patterns of recruitment and death in the Civil War.

Bitcoin & Business Meetup
Dec. 1, The Frontier
Come discuss the emerging NC legislation that would regulate Bitcoin. Bitcoin advocates are viewing this with alarm because the bill may significantly limit participation of Bitcoin Money transmitters. This new version of the Money Transmitters Act is written for traditional financial institutions like banks, and doesn’t apply very well to a digital currency like Bitcoin.
